2024 Rules of Travel - 12 Hour & 6 Hour

12 Hour Adventure Race

 

REV3Endurance Knox Xtreme 12 Hour Adventure Race.  We have a new design for the 2025 edition.  The 12 hour race will focus most of it's miles on mountain biking courses. Are you ready for this intermediate level adventure race that pushes you to your limits? We have a great course for you to run, bike, paddle, and navigate your way around South Knoxville and the Urban Wilderness. The estimated distance for the 12 hour race will be around 50 -  60 Miles. The breakdown will be 11 + miles of paddling, 10+ miles of trekking and 30+ miles of mountain biking. You will be hitting trails in some of South Knoxville's best mountain biking parks (MTB Areas: Fort Dickerson Quarry, Stanley Lippencott Park, Baker Creek Preserve, Marie Myers Park, William Hastie Nature Area, Burnett Creek Easement, Forks of the River Wildlife Area and Meads Quarry Park). Race solo and push your limits or grab a group of your friends and form a team.  We will give you a map and some basic rules to follow.  You will then set out on your adventure to get checkpoints by hiking, biking and paddling to different checkpoints.  This course is designed to push your limits and you may not clear the course. The course will have four legs Trek 6 Checkpoints, Paddle 11 Checkpoints, Trek 6 Checkpoints and Bike 22 Checkpoints. 
 

6 Hour Adventure Race

 

REV3Endurance Knox Xtreme 6 Hour Adventure Race.  Are you ready for this intermediate level adventure race? We have a great course for you to run, bike, paddle, and navigate your way around South Knoxville. The estimated distance for the 8 hour race will be around 20 - 30 Miles. The breakdown will be 5+ mile of paddling, 2+ miles of trekking and 15+ miles of mountain biking/pavement. You will be hitting trails in some of South Knoxville's best mountain  biking and greenway trail. Race solo and push your limits or grab a group of your friends and form a team.  We will give you a map and some basic rules to follow.  You will then set out on your adventure to get checkpoints by hiking, biking and paddling to different checkpoints.  The team with the most points in the allotted time will win.  It's a fun event and you and your friends will get to experience the adventure of finding all the different checkpoints spread across South Knoxville and the Urban Wilderness.

The start and finish area is actually located at the base of the Baker Creek Preserve at the REV3Enduance Van. All racers should show and check in at least 1.5 hours before their race and attend the pre-race meeting 45 minutes before the race starts.

Race Schedule of Events

​​

  • Early Packet Pick-up is Friday April 11th, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm at the REV3Endurance Van in the Baker Creek Preserve parking lot near the Bike Pump Track.

  • Race Day Packet Pick-up for the 6/12 hour race is Saturday April 12th, 7:00 am - 8:00 am at the REV3Endurance Van, 3700 Lancaster Dr. Knoxville, TN 37920

  • Race Day Itinerary: 

  • 7:00 am: Transition area opens, marked area at the REV3Endurance Van

  • 7:00 am: Bike Drop at the REV3Endurance van

  • 8:00 am: Pre-race brief 6/12 Hour Race (Mandatory for all team captains)

  • 8:30 am: All Races Start

  • 2:30 pm: 6 Hour Racers must be off the course

  • 3:00 pm: Awards Ceremony - Rolling Awards

  • 8:30 pm: 12 Hour Racers must be off the course - Awards Ceremony - Rolling Awards

 

Race Packet Pickup

Packet pickup location will be at REV3Endurance van in the parking lot near the bike pump track. 3700 Lancaster Dr. Knoxville, TN 37920. It is required that all forms be completely filled out and signed  for each member of your team.  If you signed up online all your forms are already signed. You will get your race t-shirt, race map, Rules Of Travel and race numbers at packet pick-up.  The morning of the race you will need to check in again to receive your Race Passport to get credit for all checkpoints on the course. 

​

Equipment Provided By Rev3Endurance

All gear necessary for water portions of the race will be provided. This may include, but not limited to: Watercraft (Stand Up Paddle Boards, Kayaks or Canoes), paddles, and PFDs.  Race maps, Electronic scoring, race passport, post race snacks and drinks and (ROT) Rules of Travel will also be provided by REV3Endurance. 

​

Mandatory Equipment (Responsibility of each team and\or Racer)

REV3Endurance will be checking randomly throughout the race for mandatory equipment.  Missing mandatory equipment will result in points being decreased from your total score.

 

Recommended Equipment

​

  • Enough food and water for the event

  • Bike mountain bike for the 12 hour race, hybrid bikes allowed for the 6 hour race

  • Bike helmet (Mandatory)

  • Maps (Map Bag -  1 Gallon Ziplock bag will work)

  • Rules of Travel (ROT)

  • Cell phone fully charged (Mandatory)

  • Dry bag for your cell phone

  • Bike lock for all races

  • Bike lights are not mandatory but recommended for safety while riding on the road

The main Transition Area (TA) is located at a designated area in the Baker Creek Preserve parking lot.

Post-Race Food

We will offer sweet and salty snacks and beverages as post race refreshments.  Please bring some beverages and snacks with you. A great local dining options at the 71 South post race if you would like to enjoy a meal near the finish line.  Reservations are recommend for Friday nigh dinning. 

 

Results

Unofficial results will be announced at the awards ceremony and post-race official results will be posted to our web site 24 – 48 hour after the event.

Additional Information​

  • A $10.00 supplemental race insurance will be charged to all racers.  This will be charged at race check-in.  The policy is only activated for racers who are actually on the race course on race day.
