Race Description - USARA National Championship Qualifier
Do you think you are ready for this fun and exciting Intermediate - Advanced level adventure race? We have a great course for you to run, bike, paddle, and navigate your way around in an awesome area of the Shenandoah Valley. The 24 Hour race will feature 5 to 6 miles of paddling, 15 - 20 miles of trekking (Four different orienteering courses) and 50+ mile of biking. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at check-in at the main lodge at Bryce Resort. We’ll host the race out of Bryce Resort in the Shenandoah Room. Parking will be walking distance from the race HQ at the main Bryce Lodge parking lot.

Bryce Downhill mountain bike course (Green & Blue trails only) will be used sometime during the race

The start and finish area is actually located at the base of the Bryce mountain ski lift behind the main lodge. All racers should show and check in at least one hour before their race and attend the pre-race meeting 45 minutes before the race starts.

Direction from 81 South verses GPS
Turn right onto State Rte 703, 1.4 miles
Turn left onto State Rte 614, 1.1 miles
Turn right onto VA-263 W, 9.1 miles
Turn right onto Resort Dr.1.5 miles
At the stop sign you will be at Bryce Resort

Early Packet Pick-up is Friday May 21st, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Bryce Resort in the Shenandoah Room room
8:00 pm: Pre-race briefing (Mandatory for all team captains)
Saturday May 22nd, 2021
6:00 am - 7:20 am: Race packet pickup and transition set-up at the Bryce Resort in the Shenandoah Room
6:00 am Transition area opens, marked area at the bottom of the ski lift outside of the in the Shenandoah Room room by the ski lift.
6:00 am 7:20 am: Bike Drop at the bottom of the ski lift for transport via lift to the top of the mountain.
8:00 am: Race start wave 1 Start (All 24 Hour racers will start in this wave)
8:00 am: Racers must be off the course 24 Hour Race (Sunday)
9:00 am: Awards ceremony 24 Hour Race (Sunday) Rolling awards for team that clear the course.
Race Packet Pickup
Packet pickup location will be at Bryce Resort in the Shenandoah Room. It is required that all forms be completely filled out and signed for each member of your team. In addition, all fees for USARA must be paid in full at packet pick-up. The USARA fees are $8.00 for a one day membership or $35.00 for a yearly membership. These fees are required. You will get your race t-shirt, race map, Rules of travel and any race numbers at packet pick-up.
Equipment Provided By Rev3Endurance
The gear necessary for water portions of the race will be provided. This may include, but not limited to: Watercraft (Stand Up Paddle Boards, kayaks, paddles, innertubes, kick boards and PFDs. Race maps, race passport and Rules of Travel will also be provided by Rev3Endurance. Racers can bring their own water craft, paddles and PFD (Water challenge\paddle area will be less than five miles of the overall race).
Rev3Endurance will provide all gear necessary for these challenges. Only one team member will compete in the water challenge. The other team members will trek or bike to other checkpoints while one teammate is competing in the water challenges.
Due to COVID restriction we are allowing racers to bring their own PFD and paddles. REV3 will transport the equipment to and from the paddle area of the lake.
The water challenges consist of the following items.
1. Innertube checkpoint (2) hands and feet, kicking
2. SUP checkpoints (1) paddle
3. Kayak checkpoints (1) paddle
Mandatory Equipment (Responsibility of each team and\or Racer)
Rev3Endurance will not be checking in mandatory equipment. Rev3Endurance will be checking randomly throughout the race for mandatory equipment. Missing mandatory equipment will result in points being decreased from your total score.
Enough food and water for the event

Bailing device for your kayak (Sample: Pint cup quart size milk container, something to bail water)

This race is a point to point race. There will be no transition area to resupply. You will be able to leave your bike while you are trekking for checkpoints. There will be several water refill location highlighted on the map and the race will go through two small towns along the course.

Food will not be served during the award ceremony after the race. Please bring some beverages and snacks with you. You will have dining options at the Copper Kettle Restaurant located inside the Bryce lodge.
Unofficial results will be announced at the awards ceremony and post-race official results will be posted to our web site 24 – 48 hours after the event.
